Happy Groundhog Day

For your information, Hairdo, this year I’ve decide to stop living the same goddamned day over and over again. “How does one do that?” you ask.

Simple. A humongous leap (or two) of freaked out faith.

I’m starting a business. Sure I’ve three burly partners, but it’s still scary. And thrilling.

I’m also getting married. Only one burly partner in this case, but also still scary. And thrilling.

I feel like my whole life is just starting and am getting a bit misty with optimism. Just though I’d share that.

All this…

…will soon be mine!!!  Bwah ah ah!

Actually we need an investor.  But right after that, let the diabolical laughter continue.

Finally!

I have my own doll! It’s about damn time the folks over at American Girl got around to me.

“Lanie™ Holland longs to get outside to explore and experience the great outdoors. But she dreams of exotic adventures in far-off places — not realizing there are outdoor adventures to be had right in her Boston-area neighborhood.

Lanie doll and book

But with the help of her Aunt Hannah, Lanie discovers the joys of butterfly and vegetable gardening — and birding and camping — in her own backyard. These outdoor adventures open Lanie’s eyes to the natural world and help her really see — and value — the nature that is all around her.”

The lesson to be learned here, girls:

Boston is better than any far-off place you can imagine.  I hope you can really see this.   So stop looking at flights to Spain and go do some yard work.

Netflix Watch Instanlty for PS3 + Rainy Day = AWESOMENESS

We recently ordered the special disc that allows you to stream zillions of movies instantly from NetFlix to your PS3, and consequently to your big ol’ TV.  It’s awesome.  They have a whole category devoted to British Romantic Dramas.  I AM NOT KIDDING.  It’s amazing how NetFlix seems to know me so well.  Now I don’t have to finish reading Jane Eyre. The fact that that category even exists in the first place makes me think that somewhere out there the owner of Netflix and the owner of Play Station are sitting around over beers trying to figure out how they’re going to get their girlfriends to let them keep their PS3s around so they can play Call of Duty…

Seriously?!

I have a new favorite thing.  Two actually.  They’re like bedroom slippers that are appropriate for outdoors – though I suppose the appropriateness of plaid shoes is debatable.  We went to the Farmers’ Market, Intelligentsia and to 4100 Bar together.  Maybe now we’ll walk the dog….the possibilities are endless when your feet are wrapped in cushy, fleecy goodness.

CSI’m Tired of Lens Flares

I'm so ugly

I'm so ugly

We’re in our hotel room watching CSI Miami.  It’s unbelievable.  Not only is David Caruso the ugliest working actor man alive, I think that the director of photography must be the biggest Bruins Fan EVER.  He only knows two colors:  Blue and Gold.  To make this show tolerable we’ve decided to play a drinking game.  Here are the rules:

-Drink when David Apeface Caruso delivers a line over his shoulder

-Drink when David Redheaded Raisin Caruso touches his sunglasses

-Drink when it’s sunset

SPOILER ALERT:

IT’S ALWAYS SUNSET ON THIS SHOW!!!  Miami must be a photographers wet dream – it is perpetually Golden Hour…..These actors call sheets must read:  Call Time 5:30PM, Wrap 7:00PM.  Needless to say, we are drunk.

Flintstone, Party of 2…

I waited on that guy from HBO’s “Hung” the other night.  He was sitting with a Girl Arquette.  They were very pleasant until the end of the meal when he decided to take off his shoes at the table and put his feet in her lap.   This guy’s feet were black.  Like parking lot black.  In the South we call it “Jiffy Feet,” as in “You don’t need no shoes!  You’re jist runnin’ into the Jiffy Mart to buy yer momma some Virginia Slims Super Slim Menthols” black.  I think being barefoot must be his carefully cultivated trademark actor quirk because when they left the restaurant he left his shoes under the table and my boss had to chase him down to return them.

A little note to my reader(s)….when searching Google Images for a picture of him, it’s a good idea to type, “HBO’s Hung” and not just “Hung”……very different results.
